The Master's Harvest

News Letter #12

Hello,

On July 31st, 2016 we completed the North Haverhill Fair at North Haverhill, New Hampshire.
We talked to 278 people over 5 days.  This is almost 3 times more than we talked to last year (95).
If we had more workers, we could have bought a larger booth and given the test to more people.
We tested 105 people in one evening, with only 2 people giving the test.
Many people waited to be tested, but many walked away without hearing the gospel because of the wait.
We met many Dartmouth College students who were atheists.  They made these types of statements which are self contradictory:
    “You can not know anything”, which means you don’t know this statement is true;
    “There are no absolutes”, which means this statement is not absolute;
“I do not have free will”, which I concluded with my free will and freely expressed.
We also met 3 Wiccan (witches) who worship the sun and moon and cast spells to keep good spirits in and to keep bad spirits out.
Spirits are not very powerful if any witch can force them to do what she wants.
They explained that the sun and moon gods were created when the sun and moon were created by evolution.
We explained that a created god is by definition a false god, because the creator has the real power.
I used the example of a pen which I can make a “god” to solve math problems, but is a lousy speller.
This same “god” in my daughter’s hand hates math and spells well.
They realized their “gods” were false gods and walked out.
Updated versions of the handouts for homosexuals, Jehovah Witnesses, and Salvation by Grace are below in PDF.
If you want a “.doc” or a “.pages” of the latest version, let me know.
The next 2 weeks will be the busiest of the year.  We travel to 2 fairs and will be at fairs for 12 of the next 14 days.
We will need the most help at the Ulster County Fair (NY), Addison County Fair (VT), Hopkinton Fair (NH), and the Deerfield Fair (NH).
If you are planing to join us at a fair, those 4 fairs will have the most activity and opportunity to learn and practice.
God Bless,
David A. Leak

News Letter #11

Hello,
On July 24, 2016 we completed the Pittston Fair at Pittston, Maine.  We talked to 84 people over 4 days.
We met 2 deaf people, so I was glad for all the verses we had written down ahead of time.
We talked to an LDS/Morman who believed in salvation by grace, not of works, which was a surprise.
We learned from a couple of Seven Day Adventists that they do not believe in the existence of physical hell.
We met many Christians and they recommended the local churches listed below.
Life Community Church led the church service at the fair on Sunday.
During the night a storm blew down our tent.  See picture below.  We had a spare tent as we knew the tent was old.
Nothing was damaged but the tent frame, which was a total loss.
The next 3 weeks will be the busiest of the year.  We travel to 3 fairs and will be at fairs for 19 of the next 21 days.
We will need the most help at the Ulster County Fair (NY), Addison County Fair (VT), Hopkinton Fair (NH), and the Deerfield Fair (NH).
If you are planing to join us at a fair, those 4 fairs will have the most activity and opportunity to learn and practice.

News Letter #10

Hello,

On June 6th, 2016 we completed the Vermont Dairy Festival at Enousburg Falls, Vermont.  We talked to 49 people over 3 days.

We gave away write ups covering “Homosexuality”, “Salvation by Grace”, and “Jehovah Witness”.  They can be found at the end of this newsletter.

On June 6th, 2016 we completed the Bradford Fair at Bradford, Vermont.  We talked to 48 people over 4 days.  We were inside a building, so the weather was not a problem, but being out of the way reduced the number of people that visited.  The strangest question we got was “What do you think of the presidential candidates?”.  My answer did not to endorse any candidate because I was not running a political booth.  I explained how each candidate is acting in a non-biblical way and wished them well choosing a candidate to vote for.  We should expect those types of questions this year.

We met a christian selling ice cream and a christian performing as Buddy The Clown who can be found at buddytheclown.com

We will need the most help at the Ulster County Fair (NY), Addison County Fair (VT), Hopkinton Fair (NH), and the Deerfield Fair (NH).
If you are planing to join us at a fair, those 4 fairs will have the most activity and the least amount of down time (boredom).
God Bless,
David A. Leak

We are headed to Acton Fair today.  We have been given a spot at the Clinton Fair in Clinton ME.  We will be there 11-13 September.

News Letter #5

Hello,
Last week we helped staff a booth at the Ulster County Fair in New York. We spoke with about 580 people.
Over 20 people from four churches worked at this booth over 5 and 1/2 days.  Thanks to all who did.  Below are the daily summaries:
Tuesday:
Over 120 people talked to last night.  We had every table used and workers were giving the test standing at the entrance.
Wednesday:
There were very few people at the fair, but we still manage to talk to over 60 people yesterday.
We met a dozen international students attending a camp hosted by the Universal Unitarian Church.
Lance talked to their pastor and showed the pastor the logical problem of all religions leading to heaven.  John 14:6
Their other area of discussion was homosexuality.  They did not know about Romans 1 until we showed it to them.
Several were atheist and did not believe in God and did not believe the Bible.
There were several fruitful conversations throughout the day, so pray for all the people we talked to.
Thursday:
We talked to about 60 people yesterday.  One girl came back and took the test twice.
She had taken the test the night before, was concerned and read all the literature we gave her.
So she came back a second time to talk.  Then she came back with her 3 friends to make them take the test.
While her friends took the test, she talked to Lance.  Unfortunately, her friends were less concerned than her.
Pray that she will not be discouraged by her friends attitude.
We also talked to an an atheist and his friend for about 1 hour and he took a lot of handouts.
Pray that they, and everyone will talked to, read the handouts and are convicted.
Friday:
We talked to a little over 100 people yesterday.  Many were catholic or a denomination of Christianity but many did not know:
Only God is good.
Matthew 19:17 (NKJV)
17  So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
The double substitution that God performed:

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)
21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

That works or Christ plus works does not get you into heaven:
Matthew 19:24-26 (NKJV)
24  And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25  When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
26  But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

We gave out many “Why Christianity?” tracts and “God has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life” books.
Please pray that these people will find the time and motivation to read these books and the bible and ask God for wisdom.

Colin and I had talked to 4 people from the Jewish faith and were comparing notes on what we said and how well it was received.
While we were doing that, one Christian stop by to say hi.  She was a Jewish lady who converted to Christianity in her teen years.
She told us that the similarities between Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross and the passover helped to revealed truth to her.
So pray for her that she can witness to her family who all remain in the Jewish faith.
We talked to several atheists and Andy had one tap dancing about where morality comes from.
When atheists talk about societies having their morals evolve, it is good to point out that evolution means change.
And therefore society could change their morals right back to where they started and their is no explanation for why that is wrong.
Atheist always want to say that moral evolution to an outcome they agree with is “right” and evolution to any other outcome is “wrong”.
But evolution/change does not have to be “agreeable” to or “liked” by anyone.  Just ask a Christian about the evolution of marriage.
Saturday:
We talked to over 160 people yesterday.  Many were Catholic or ex-Catholic.  We spoke to about 6 perfect people.
Several people had problems and asked “Why do bad things happen to good people?”.
One left the booth in tears after being shown what was in the NT.
She had been lied to by her friends or church and told that some sins in the OT were not sins in the NT.
She said she had her faith severely shaken before she left the booth.  Please pray for all these people.
Sunday:
We talked to over 80 people yesterday.  For the entire fair, we talked to over 580 people about the bible.
We gave a tract, designed by Carol Martin, with the gospel message and bible verses on it, to everyone that would take it.
We gave away about 75 “Why Christianity” and about 25 “God Has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life” books.
We also gave away about 25 “Irrefutable Proof: Creation vs Evolution” and 25 gospels of John.
We also gave away about 50 New Testaments.
