The Master's Harvest

News Letter #9, 2015 Year End Summary and 2016 Plans

Hello,
Below is a summary of the fairs we attended in 2015 and the fairs we are attending, or have applied to, in 2016.
In 2015 we attended 9 fairs over 34 days and talked to 1465 people.  In 2016 we hope to attend 15 fairs over 60 days.
Thanks to a generous contribution from Grace Bible Church in Wappingers Falls, NY all the 2016 fairs marked “paid” are paid in full.
Also, for 2016 Grace Bible Church has sponsored the booth at the Ulster County Fair.
Long Term Goals for 2016:
Form a board for “The Master’s Harvest”:
Write a charter for the organization
Identify individuals that could serve on the board of directors
Complete any legal documents needed to have a board of directors
Increase local involvement in the fairs:
Identify local churches at each fair location
Meet with elders, pastors, and church members from those churches and explain our outreach
Identify churches and individuals that wish to participate in the booth in 2016 and 2017
Identify local churches that want to sponsor and/or run a booth in 2017

News Letter #5

Hello,
Last week we helped staff a booth at the Ulster County Fair in New York. We spoke with about 580 people.
Over 20 people from four churches worked at this booth over 5 and 1/2 days.  Thanks to all who did.  Below are the daily summaries:
Tuesday:
Over 120 people talked to last night.  We had every table used and workers were giving the test standing at the entrance.
Wednesday:
There were very few people at the fair, but we still manage to talk to over 60 people yesterday.
We met a dozen international students attending a camp hosted by the Universal Unitarian Church.
Lance talked to their pastor and showed the pastor the logical problem of all religions leading to heaven.  John 14:6
Their other area of discussion was homosexuality.  They did not know about Romans 1 until we showed it to them.
Several were atheist and did not believe in God and did not believe the Bible.
There were several fruitful conversations throughout the day, so pray for all the people we talked to.
Thursday:
We talked to about 60 people yesterday.  One girl came back and took the test twice.
She had taken the test the night before, was concerned and read all the literature we gave her.
So she came back a second time to talk.  Then she came back with her 3 friends to make them take the test.
While her friends took the test, she talked to Lance.  Unfortunately, her friends were less concerned than her.
Pray that she will not be discouraged by her friends attitude.
We also talked to an an atheist and his friend for about 1 hour and he took a lot of handouts.
Pray that they, and everyone will talked to, read the handouts and are convicted.
Friday:
We talked to a little over 100 people yesterday.  Many were catholic or a denomination of Christianity but many did not know:
Only God is good.
Matthew 19:17 (NKJV)
17  So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
The double substitution that God performed:

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)
21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

That works or Christ plus works does not get you into heaven:
Matthew 19:24-26 (NKJV)
24  And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25  When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
26  But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

We gave out many “Why Christianity?” tracts and “God has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life” books.
Please pray that these people will find the time and motivation to read these books and the bible and ask God for wisdom.

Colin and I had talked to 4 people from the Jewish faith and were comparing notes on what we said and how well it was received.
While we were doing that, one Christian stop by to say hi.  She was a Jewish lady who converted to Christianity in her teen years.
She told us that the similarities between Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross and the passover helped to revealed truth to her.
So pray for her that she can witness to her family who all remain in the Jewish faith.
We talked to several atheists and Andy had one tap dancing about where morality comes from.
When atheists talk about societies having their morals evolve, it is good to point out that evolution means change.
And therefore society could change their morals right back to where they started and their is no explanation for why that is wrong.
Atheist always want to say that moral evolution to an outcome they agree with is “right” and evolution to any other outcome is “wrong”.
But evolution/change does not have to be “agreeable” to or “liked” by anyone.  Just ask a Christian about the evolution of marriage.
Saturday:
We talked to over 160 people yesterday.  Many were Catholic or ex-Catholic.  We spoke to about 6 perfect people.
Several people had problems and asked “Why do bad things happen to good people?”.
One left the booth in tears after being shown what was in the NT.
She had been lied to by her friends or church and told that some sins in the OT were not sins in the NT.
She said she had her faith severely shaken before she left the booth.  Please pray for all these people.
Sunday:
We talked to over 80 people yesterday.  For the entire fair, we talked to over 580 people about the bible.
We gave a tract, designed by Carol Martin, with the gospel message and bible verses on it, to everyone that would take it.
We gave away about 75 “Why Christianity” and about 25 “God Has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life” books.
We also gave away about 25 “Irrefutable Proof: Creation vs Evolution” and 25 gospels of John.
We also gave away about 50 New Testaments.

News Letter #2

Hello,
Back in June we had our booth at the Vermont Dairy Festival in Enosburg Falls, VT. We spoke with about 80 people.
Some were concerned about dying. Another, a former christian, is now an atheist.
Please pray that the people we talked to read the tracts, and find or continue with a Bible study.
We gave several people the write-up “How to Find Help in the Bible” written by Pastor Scott Harris.
I have that info in a word document and a PDF file, so contact me if you would like it in that format.
We also talked at length to two Jehovah Witnesses and used the info from “The Deity of Christ”, also by Pastor Scott Harris.
One of the two Jehovah Witness admitted that we had a point about Jesus accepting worship as a god.
We also used the info from the “The Humanity of Christ”, also by Pastor Scott Harris.
Several local christians we met at the fair helped us make a list of local pastors and churches.  Thank you.
We gave that list out to visitors who were looking for a local church to attend.
One of the other groups doing outreach at the fair is called the “Fellowship of Christian Farmers.”
They hand out free walking sticks with the “wordless book”, in bead form on the handle.  Their web site is http://www.fcfi.org
And the walking stick program is found at http://www.fcfi.org/home/about-fcfi/walking-stick-story/
Other groups were handing out bibles and one was supporting the pro-life cause.
A town church handed out tracts on the parade route and had a booth with “The 3 Things God has never seen”.
They had several baptism’s that Sunday, so praise God that the local churches are growing.
The festival is held in the center of town with about 40 vendors and a midway in the adjacent high school parking lot.
There was a Sunday service held on the fair grounds by the town church.
The pastor/speaker was also the ventriloquist act hired to perform at the fair.
He goes to fairs in the summer and incorporates biblical outreach in his ventriloquist act.
He used all his props from his fair act during his Sunday service.
So “the gospel message was delivered by a dummy”, a line he used in his sermon.
If you have suggestions about this newsletter or our website please reply back or contact us at  www.TheMastersHarvest.com .
I am planning to post church info, outreach books, tracts, sermons, etc on “Resource” pages on our web site.
Please send the links to your church and/or your web pages with outreach/apologetics/bible help information, if you want us to list them.
The fairs we are attending or hope to attend this year are listed below.
Please drop in to see us again if you attend any of these fairs.  If you know of a good fair for outreach, let us know.
If you want to join us at one of the fairs and help out, let us know so we can send you some training information.
Please forward this newsletter to anyone that is interested in doing outreach.
Have them contact us by e-mail or through the web site www.TheMastersHarvest.com
God Bless,
